Boyz II Men at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand – August 27th, 2023

Boyz II Men at the Minnesota State Fair by Patrick Dunn

Boyz II Men brought us back to the 90’s and reminded us just how many hits they were responsible for. Their harmonies were every bit as good as back in the day and they were all about making sure everybody was having an enjoyable time together as a collective group. Prior to their set, we were transported even further back in time to the 70’s with another bunch of hits from legendary singer Chaka Khan.

There were additional offerings from this genre on some of the other stages throughout the fair. Scroll down to see photo galleries from Leinie Lodge headliners Naturally 7, plus an early day performance by Sam Butler, known for his time on guitar with the Blind Boys of Alabama.

Their signature style, characterized by lush harmonies and soulful delivery, captivated audiences worldwide. Boyz II Men’s ability to seamlessly blend elements of gospel, pop, and soul created a sound that transcended genres. Their music spoke to the heart, touching on themes of love, heartbreak, and resilience.  As they continues to create and perform, their impact on the music world endures. Their harmonies remind us of the power of unity and the beauty of genuine talent. Boyz II Men’s journey from a high school vocal group to global superstars serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians everywhere.

Boyz II Men’s legacy extends beyond their musical achievements. They have actively engaged in philanthropy, supporting various charitable causes and initiatives. Their commitment to giving back to their community reflects the values they hold dear and underscores their role as not just artists, but as influential figures in society.

Along with Chaka Khan, this made for an unforgettable evening.  We always love the State Fair Grandstand shows.  This was especially a fun one to see on a warm summer evening.
