Ace Frehley – Surf Ballroom Clear Lake Iowa – July 5th 2015

Surf Ballroom presents Ace Frehley.

Ace’s US tour starts tonight at The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa. The Surf Ballroom is the last place Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens ever played.

On the way down I had to stop at the crash site in a field about 4 miles north of the ballroom. Had to pay me respects to the fallen heroes of the 50’s.

Ace Frehley and his band are in support of their new album Space Invader.

The band was fantastic tonight. Richie Scarlett still on guitar since 1984!! He plays so great.

Flipping the guitar around, kicking it, behind his head. His style is a combination of Ace and Keith Richards.

They started right on time hitting the stage with Rocket Ride. One of Ace’s best tunes. His set list ranged from Kiss to both his 80’s solo albums and newer stuff.

They also dedicated 2 Young 2 Die to the fallen heroes. Nice touch.

Since getting sober you can tell Ace is enjoying every moment of being on stage, joking with the crowd and throwing picks up left and right.

He plays his smoking guitar, light up one and signature Ace series.

Ace is always very very loud. Tonight did not disapoint. Always bring ear plugs cause he kranks it!

His band is right on tonight and the rest of the tour should not be a let down.

Ace is back and he told ya so!!!
