The Used are currently on tour celebrating their release of Toxic Positivity, the bands 9th studio album. They are joined by Dead American and Sleeping with Sirens.
The tour came through Minneapolis on Tuesday, September 19th, at a packed Fillmore.
Dead American kicked off the show. Growing up an emo kid you probably recognized the lead singer, Cove Reber, who fronted Saosin and Scary Kids Scaring Kids. As a seasoned performer, he is great at capturing the crowd. The group is bringing the sounds of post hardcore back into 2023. If you are going to a Used show, make sure you get there early to see Dead American, they bring a good time.
Sleeping with Sirens has been blessing peoples’ ears since 2009. The group is best known for singer Kellin Quinn is known for his leggero tenor vocal range and his versatility. Their song, “If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn”, put them on every post-hardcore kid’s radars. SWS puts on a great live show, and you will not be disappointed.
I had to dig out one of my old shirts for this show, my Bert is my Homeboy, shirt. Which I can’t remember exactly when I bought it, but it was at least 2002-2003, so the shirt is old, and has been through many concerts, but it had to be brought back for The Used 20 years later. I have been a Used fan since the beginning, but it had been years since I saw them live. They never disappoint with their live shows. They capture every person’s attention in the room, and they know how to work the crowd. The band played a huge array of songs throughout their career and nine albums. Hearing those songs from 20 years ago was amazing and brought back so many memories. Always, always check out The Used when they come through your town, you will have so much fun.
