“They are SO funny!” was something I heard several times from girls in the crowd during the concert and it is very true. They were quite funny and that is what Jack Black excels at.They played a lot of their most popular songs and a large portion of the sold out concert was singing every word with them towards the end of the concert. The lighting show was pretty minimalistic, but it didn’t matter since it was so much fun! I would really love to see what Tenacious D would do with a venue like an arena or even a stadium (if that they had a big budget.) They could probably bring some giant robot props that would be totally epic!
I hate to say it, but Surly Brewing Festival Field is probably my least favorite concert venue in the Twin Cities. For some reason, even though the location is huge, it is still very hard to find. Plus, there is literally no parking there. Plus, when I got there, there wasn’t a “porta potty” to be found and then, when I finally asked security, they told me it was around the outside of the place and there were a bunch of them but they were nowhere near the stage. Also, there were constant lines everywhere that never seemed to move (I found that out at the Mitski concert a few months ago.) However, the worst thing I have found is that whatever a band has a for a stage setup previously on their respective tours, it is seems to be thrown out the theoretical window when they play Surly Brewing Festival Field and they have a very stripped down stage setup compared to every other concert they play on that same tour which is very disappointing. Hopefully in the future they can improve on the pots and lines.
