Steel Panther – Pearl Concert Theater – Las Vegas, Nevada – November 14, 2014

Anyone who has not seen Steel Panther live just has to do it. It doesn’t matter if they know one song – it’s just a really fun experience. Granted, it’s a more adult oriented one, and can be at times, rather offensive, but it is fun nonetheless.

Steel Panther is opening for Judas Priest at the Pearl Concert Theater in the Palms Casino in Vegas on November 14, 2014. They have been touring with Judas Priest, one of their favorite acts, and make for an excellent opener. The group is a spoof on 1980’s rock with a dirty theme. And not just a little dirty. With songs such as “Gloryhole”, “Asian Hooker”, and “Party All Day (Fuck All Night)”, you can tell we’re not kidding. But the fantastic thing about these songs is that they don’t just cash in on the raunchy nature of their lyrics. They’re very well written melodically, which makes one laugh all the harder when they hear them. They are catchy and people feel the need to sing them, regardless of the lyrics.

Along with the music, the members of the band take to making fun of themselves, one another, and members of the audience, which is such a fantastic addition to the show. Michael Starr claims that he is not a fat Bret Michaels, rather a skinny Vince Neil, and the other band members are not far behind when it comes to such insults. They really play it off as a great old school rock band, pulling women on stage, singing of only sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and living up to the stereotype of the rock and roll lifestyle.

Their typical setlist is cut short during this show, as they are an opener. Sadly, they leave out “Oklahoma Girl” and the fantastic fan favorite, “The Shocker”. It is imperative for anyone that sees a shortened set of this band, and enjoys it, to see a full show.
