Saxon / UFO – Hard Rock Casino – Sioux City IA – March 24th 2017

Hard Rock Casino – Sioux City – Iowa March 24th 2017

It is time for a road trip.

There is only a few bands I road trip for and this time it is Saxon and UFP.
The tour hits the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sioux City Iowa. I live in Burnsville Minnesota so we have a good drive ahead of us.
Tried to get someone to join me but no go so it’s a solo trip.
About half way through the trip was listening to Eddie Truck on Sirius XM Radio Volume channel and decided to give him a ring.
Got on the air and talked about road trips and he told a cool story about going to see Kiss on the Creatures tour.
After 4 hours I arrived and got ready for the show.
Biff and Doug were walking through the casino floor but was too busy eating to get a photo or autograph.
Opening was Jarded James Nichols. He is a mix up southern rock -Ted Nugent and Lindsey Buckingham(for his style of playing). All I could say was wow. Him and his band remind me of the sex drugs and rock n roll days. Catchy riffs, cool lyrics and just tight rock n roll. Caught NIbbs from Saxon standing next to me in the back watching the show.
Saxon – what can your really say. Part of the new wave of british heavy metal in the early nineties, over 20 studio albums, countless live albums and one hell of a band.
Saxon ripped up the show to get things going tonight. We are blessed to see that in the states where the crowds are not as big as in Europe. Tonight was sold out but a nice intimate setting.
The band has as et list but always take requests and listen to all of us shouting out songs.
Tonight surprise was Broken Heroes. I love this song. This alone was worth the drive.
As always the whole band was in tip top shape. Setlist had a few of the favs missing but hey when you have a 40 year career it;s gotta be tough to choose.
UFO, what can you say about UFO? Over 20 albums over 40 years, Phil Mogg, Pete Way Light out in London, Too Hot to Handle.
With a solid lineup of over 12 years of Phil Mogg – VInnie Moore – Rob De Luca – Paul Raymond and Andy Parker they are keeping the legend of UFO still playing live.
Phil is amazing singer and it is unbelievable he is still doing it at 69.
It blows me away they are not as big as the Stones or other from that era. Vinnie was wailing tonight on the guitar. I am sure there was a lot of guitar freaks there just to see him. If you ever have a change to meet him do he is a super nice guy, way doen to earth and loves the fans.
The setlist was incredible including Too Hot to Handle, Doctor Doctor,
Lights Out and many more.
UFO is in support of their latest A Conspiracy of Stars.
Saxon in support of their latest Battering Ram.
They just announced another leg of US dates. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW.
