Saxon Interview – Waterloo Iowa – September 24th 2013

Had the pleasure of sitting down to do a Saxon interview with Biff Byford and Doug Sacratt in Waterloo, Iowa on the Sacrifice and Sin Tour.  Doing a Saxon interview was pretty cool for a metalhead like me.

We talk new album Sacrifice, touring, gigs and more.

For those not in the know, forming in the late 1970s, Saxon emerged as one of the pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Hailing from South Yorkshire, England, the band quickly gained a reputation for their powerful sound and energetic live performances.  Led by vocalist Biff Byford, Saxon’s music is characterized by its driving rhythms, melodic guitar solos, and anthemic choruses.

Their debut album, released in 1979, set the stage for a string of successful albums throughout the 1980s.  Hits like “Wheels of Steel,” “Strong Arm of the Law,” and “Princess of the Night” solidified their place in heavy metal history.

Saxon’s lyrics often draw from themes of mythology, history, and the struggles of everyday life.  Over the decades, they have maintained a dedicated fan base and continue to tour extensively around the world.

Saxon’s influence extends beyond their music, as they have inspired countless bands and musicians in the heavy metal genre.  With a career spanning several decades, Saxon remains a vital force in the global metal scene, proving that true metal never dies.  Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to their music, exploring Saxon’s discography is a journey through the evolution of British heavy metal.

They were so great to interview and could not have been a nicer bunch of fellows.

Check it out.
