Rod Stewart / Cyndi Lauper – Xcel Energy Center – St. Paul MN – October 14th 2018

Rod Stewart / Cyndi Lauper live at The Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Minnesota.

Cyndi opened the show tonight from a rescheduled date from Rod’s bad case of strep throat.

She is so full of energy and still keep it so fun.

She played a tune and then talk for a bit, then another tune and talk. She was very entertaining.

I had no idea she had kids that played hock in Brainerd. She-Bo was second song in the list, I like that one. She even broke out the recorder for it!

During the set she covered When You Were Mine from local home town hero Prince. Wonder if they ever did any jamming together.

Cyndi had on this super sparkly outfit that would change while she walked around or rubbed it to change it herself.

Of course Time after Time and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun had everyone standing and dancing.

Setlist – I Drove All Night – She Bop – All Through The Night – Hope – The Goonies R Good Enough – When You Were Mine – Money Changes Everything – Shine – Time After Time – Girls Just Wanna Have Fun – Not My Father’s Son/True Colors

Rod Stewart! Seriously one of the classic rock n roll legends live before our naked steaming eyes.

Rod opened up with Infatuation one great hits from the 80’s right after his bands did Soul Finger cover.

He has a span that goes over five decades and has made some of the timeless classics we love. He owns the stage as iff he was born to be there. He knows what the crowd wants and delivers.

Having hits back to the sixties it has to be hard to pick a set list. Tonight was filled with hits and a few new tunes.

His band is amazing. They must be part of his Vegas residency cause they are tight. 2 drummers 1 percussionist backup singers 2 guitar players and bass player fill out the band.

They girls are good eye candy also for us guys that were at the show. A lot of ladies here tonight to see Rod perform his hits, as expected.

Since he had to reschedule this gig he came on early and gave us 2 new tunes from his latest release Blood Red Roses. Pretty good so will have to check out the new album.

The whole show is so much fun. Huge video screens, 9 of them, that kept changing and giving us Rod and all sorts of different back grounds. Stage also had no speakers on it so it looked absolutely massive. Rod never strayed from moving all around it all night. He also had a few costume changes and hair touch ups during the evening. And of course with that hair I would also.

About a third of the way through there was a small acoustic section where everyone came to the front of the stage and performed a few songs.

It is always a please sure to see Rod. He does make us feel Forever Young, and at 73 youth is a feeling.

Setlist – Infatuation – Having a Party – Some Guys Have All the Luck – Young Turks – Tonight’s the Night – Forever Young – Rhythm of My Heart – Maggie May – Didn’t Eye – Look in Her Eyes – Downtown Train – First Cut Is the Deepest – You’re in My Heart – Grace – Have I Told You Lately – Nutbush City Limits – Stay With Me – Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? – Sailing
