Bring Me the Horizon’s USA Ascension Program+ Part 01tour stopped at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, MN on May 13th with a full night of metalcore with support from The Plot in You and Amira Elfkey.

Amira Elfeky opened the night with a haunting and goth set. Her sound was a mix of dreamy textures and crushing nü-metal breakdowns immediately grabbed the arena’s attention. She brought a good sound to open the night and lead into some heavier and darker sets.

The Plot in You came up next and delivered one of the tightest and most emotionally intense performances of the night. From the moment they took the stage, the energy was intense and dark, with Landon Tewers screaming and pacing giving an intense and fraught energy to the music. Their set balanced suffocating heaviness with melodic vulnerability, and the crowd reaction exploded the second the opening riffs hit. Tewers’s vocals sounded vicious live, shifting from tortured screams to soaring clean sections effortlessly. The rest of the band had a dark and unassuming presence that fit the muscie perfectly. Every song landed with weight, especially during the darker, slower moments where the entire arena seemed locked in.

By the time Bring Me the Horizon took the stage, the energy in the room was already at a breaking point of energy and anticipation.  The production was massive, with lasers, pyro, towering visuals, synchronized lighting, and enough bass to shake the floor. But it was the band’s energy that made the show. BMTH have reached a point where they can jump between metalcore chaos, arena rock hooks, electronic experimentation, and emotional singalongs without losing momentum. Oli Sykes, fresh off a concussion from a show just days before, commanded the stage with the kind of confidence and spirit that turns a concert into an event, constantly pulling the crowd into every moment. Their setlist hit nearly every corner of the band’s evolution, opening with “DArkSide”  followed by “The House of Wolves” and “MANTRA”.  The heavier tracks turned the pit into complete mayhem and a sea of crowd surfers. One of the most impressive parts of the night was when Oli brought a fan on stage, as he has been for previous shows, but the young girl he brought out absolutely captivated the crowd and made for a special moment for the entire arena. Their set never felt overproduced or distant despite the scale of the show and the level of production, because there was such a great performance aspect and connection involved. It was one of those lineups where every set felt necessary, and by the end of the night the Grand Casino Arena felt completely drained in the best possible way.
