The Devil Wears Prada and Fit for a King with Counterparts and Avoid – The Fillmore Minneapolis – February 24th, 2024

On the final night of the “second semester” of the heavy hitting Metalcore Dropouts tour, the Fillmore Minneapolis was packed and in high anticipation of what proved to be a wild show with a stacked lineup.

First up was Seattle-based five-piece heavy rock band Avoid.  They came out with a burst of fiery vigor, and immediately energized the crowd.  Their music is heavy but catchy, and their non-stop energy made for a great performance.  Lead singer Benny Scholl even crowd surfed while singing for a last-night performance that was unforgettable.

Canadian hardcore veterans Counterparts were up next, bringing a darker and heavier yet melodic performance with shadowy lighting and aggressive screams.  Their performance was very raw and heavy, and yet also emotional and drew on a deeper connection with the crowd.

For the last night of the tour, co-headliners Fit for a King went up first, with lead singer Ryan Kirby captivating with his intensely powerful vocals.  Their energy on stage is unparalleled, with bassist Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary and guitarist Daniel Gailey frequently airborne and taking out into the crowd, with Tuck at one point jumping the rail and crowd surfing around mid-song.  They have a perfect mix of stage energy and powerful music, and it was moving to see how much Ryan Kirby clearly just enjoys performing, stepping back multiple times with a smile on his face just taking in the crowd and the energy on this last night of the tour.

Finally, The Devil Wears Prada closed the night with an intense, heavy, and musically and visually stunning performance.  With the lights dancing off the walls and chandeliers of the Fillmore Minneapolis, the room shook with the thunderous drums of Guiseppe Capolupo, a driving force behind the kit, and one of the most powerful and captivating drummers of metalcore.  Lead singer Mike Hranica is a forceful and focused front man, and he delivered a potent mix of harsh screams and deep melodic tones.   The Metalcore Dropouts tour ended on a memorable and powerful night for the fortunate crowd in attendance in Minneapolis.
