Minnesota State Fair – Day Two

More great weather made day two at the Minnesota State Fair especially enjoyable.  1013 Music Reviews was of course there for the music … well and maybe some exceptional food on a stick.

The Grandstand theme was geared towards a younger crowd with one of the latest boy band sensations “Why Don’t We” plus supporting acts, MAX, EBEN and Taylor Grey.  While the crowd wasn’t big as night one, they managed to be a lot louder.  The main event included a lot of creative lighting which gave the boys plenty of good posing opportunities.  They also offered up a good vocal performance enhanced with choreographed dance moves.

We also made sure to get out for Country Music writer and performer Mac McAnally at the Leinie’s Lodge in the afternoon.  MacAnally has written some huge hits for Kenny Chesney, Alabama, Sawyer Brown, Shenandoah and many others.  He also performs with Jimmy Buffett and offered up a scaled down version of “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere”.

Minnesota music was again well represented as Nooky Jones played a teaser set at the MPR booth prior to headlining the Shell Stage later that evening.
