It really can’t be overstated, Winter sucks in Minnesota. Fortunately our breed of hearty music loving individuals find the means to inspire and get out and about and celebrate together what brings warmth and joy during these chilly ass February nights. Thankfully, the rough and tumble band from East L.A., Los Lobos brought the heat in the form of a 2 hour scorching set of their brand of heavy blues, rock, boogie woogie and vintage Norteño vibes to the First Avenue Mainroom Friday night.
“I remember the first time I ever felt 5 degree cold” recalled lead singer and guitarist, David Hildago as he reminisced playing the venue back in the day with locals, Soul Asylum.
Throughout the night the band drove relentlessly through their set, providing the audience with a virtual retrospective of their career as well as a steady nod to their influences via their 2021 covers album, Native Sons.
Keeping the crowd moving all night, Hidalgo gave praise and thanks to the warm First Avenue mainroom. Sending revelers back out into the cold night, covered in steam like a pack of wolves, now full from the fiery sounds on the cold Friday night in Minneapolis, it will be remembered as another historic stop for the band.
