Rochester’s summer music park series opened with an energetic and fun show on a beautiful evening. Rochester’s own Loud Mouth Brass, a brass and wind instrument ensemble with drums, started off the evening with an enjoyable mix of originals and covers presented with a jazzy flair and matched with some entertaining dance moves and great energy. With no vocal accompaniment, the instrumentalists were allowed to shine, with great solos from each member, including the sousaphone. It was a fun and lively performance, getting the crowd energized and engaged and filling the park with beautiful music.
Minneapolis based hip hop band Hiahli followed and amplified the energy even more with a dynamic blend of rock instruments and hip hop beats with positive and vibrant lyrics. Vocalist Cold Sweat (Ryan Tetzloff) has a captivating stage presence, with a brilliant smile and positive energy radiating from his vocals and his dancing. While they unfortunately had to call their set a little early due to impending storms (which quickly moved in and soaked the park after the crowd had dispersed), the rainbow that followed the performance and the storms was a perfect end to a beautiful night of music and positive energy.
The city of Rochester music department (Rochester Public Music) puts on this series of free concerts in the six city wards throughout the summer. They are definitely a treat not to be missed! Hiahli with Loud Mouth Brass was certainly proof of that.
