Day One of Blue Ridge Rock Festival at Danville VA – September 9th 2021

Day One of Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2021

What might be the largest rock festival of 2021 was September 9th through the 12th.  The Blue Ridge Rock Festival was near Danville, VA, and while there were some challenges moving from a smaller to huge festival in it’s third year and new location, it felt good to be among a lot of like minded people, enjoying music. Six stages ranged from full size with full pyro, to side stages next to the main stages for local and unsigned bands. Over 170 bands played, and I was able to see 65.
Day 1 was the biggest challenge.  Logistic issues with parking shuttles and camping setup caused a lot of people to miss part of the first day.   I personally arrived around 4pm after parking at 10:30, and a four mile walk in the meantime.   Once on the grounds, there were some great performances that day, with Black Label Society (with Zakk Wylde in a kilt), A Day to Remember and Halestorm being the highlights.
