Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2021 Day Three was MUCH smoother on the to and from parking areas. A new bus company was brought in, and it was better organized. Two more full days of dusty mosh pits and a lot of walking was much easier to get to. Corrosion of Conformity opened with a loud Seven Days, and grooved their way through a fun set. The entire Metal Tour of the Year was there, with Hatebreed and Trivium playing louder than most. Lamb of God live was a new experience for me, and Randy Blythe jumping off a seemingly on fire drum riser was a unique sight.
Megadeth sounded great just a couple days before Dave Mustaine’s 60th birthday. A few special moments happened that day as well. Tye Trujillo, son of original Suicidal Tendancies bassist Robert Trujillo (and now Metallica member), played his first show ever with Suicidal at 17 years old. I had heard amazing things about Avatar, how unique they were, and that was spot on! See them when you can (in fact, they are playing Fillmore on Wednesday, hint hint). Josh Katz, lead singer of Badflower, had a case of laryngitis, and they were rumored before to be playing a instrumental show. Instead, Josh struggled powerfully through emotional songs, and it was a top five moment of the whole weekend.
