Live Nation and Huntington Bank Stadium present Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour
So thinking just after recovering from Rock Fest I would be seeing Beyonce. So because I was still shaking off 4 days of Rock Fest I decided to park about a mile away for a nice walk to the stadium. Pretty sure I was the only one cranking Van Halen’s 1984 in my headphones on the walk there. As I approached I started to see all the fans and there were a lot of them. All kinds of people all dressed up and somewhere to go. The thing I saw the most was the bling cowboy hats.
So with no opener she went one at 8:45. We thought she was going on at 8 so we had a tad bit of a wait. As soon as she came on stage we knew it was going to be an amazing night. She had several sets with different looks throughout the night. She started with The Opening Act,a classic look and a band behind her on a stage of steps and light that reminded me of a Studio 54 type look. This is why people call her the queen bee. Her voice is surreal. Pitch perfect and so soothing. Destiny’s Child’s Dangerously in Love was the opening song. The other songs during the opening act were Flaws and All, 1 + 1, I’m Going Down a Ross Royce cover, I Care which had everyone singing along, and closing with the cover River Deep, Mountain High.
So the back of the stage is a massive screen that goes from one side of the stadium to the other. In the middle is a giant circle where it opens and everyone comes out of and the band, when playing is in the back. I do like that for most of the tunes there is a live band. Tracks for some but when your dancing and moving like she does tracks are necessary. Now the screen keeps changing to the set they are playing. At one point it was like stage set up and scaffolding and I thought it was real. You could see through it and it looked real. This started the Renaissance set. Beyonce was in a suit made of metal which she shed and then she made it to the front for the first of many dance routines. Her and her dancers had the space look going throughout I’m That Girl, Cozy, Alien Superstar and Lift Off.
The motherboard set was next. The change this time was outfits and the band came back to kick out the jams. This was when we first saw Beyonce make it to the center stage with all her dancers. She started at the main stage with Cuff it then made it out for Energy and Break My Soul. As they made it out I was looking around and saw out in the back her TelePrompTer. Since I don’t know much more than the hits I did like to watch along.
The next set is the Opulence set. She starts back on the main stage with an outfit change of red. They started at the main stage but then again found them all around the stage. If you are on the floor you will love your seats. Anywhere there will be an amazing seat. she works the stage all around. Formation, Diva and Run the World (Girls). My Power had Blue Ivy come out and dance with her mom. This got the crowd twice as loud as they were before. Black Parade, Savage and Partition closed out the set. It continued to be an amazing show. There are things that happen during this part but will leave it open incase you are going.
Anointed parts 1 and two are next and closing it out is the Mind Control set. When Beyonce closes with Summer Renaissance, stay. The closing number is again AMAZING.
Overall the show is something to be seen. No matter what seat you have you will be in for a great show.
