Volbeat – Eagles Ballroom – Milwaukee WI – July 28th 2023
The Rave/Eagles Ballroom Presents: Servant of the Road Tour Featuring Volbeat and Bad Wolves
Photos and Review by: Jake Hageman
What a night it was at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as rock and metal fans gathered for an unforgettable concert featuring Volbeat and Bad Wolves! The Eagles Ballroom (where the concert specifically took place), is a popular music venue with a rich history. It was the perfect place for this epic concert. As a first-timer there, I was eager to soak up the vibes and see what this place had in store for us.
Opening the night was Bad Wolves, a band that has rapidly risen to prominence in the heavy metal scene since their formation in 2017. Their emotionally charged songs and raw power resonated with fans from the moment they hit the stage. From their breakout cover of “Zombie,” paying homage to a classic, to one of my favorites, “Killing Me Slowly,” Bad Wolves set the bar high, igniting the crowd with a relentless energy that reverberated throughout the venue. This was my third time seeing this group, and I think they always do a great job at warming up the crowd.
Bad Wolves Setlist: I’ll Be There – Killing Me Slowly – Lifeline – No Masters – House of Cards- Hear Me Now – Never Be the Same – No Messiah – If Tomorrow Never Comes – Zombie
And then, it was time for Volbeat to take the stage. Originating from Copenhagen, Denmark, Volbeat has become one of the most distinctive bands in the rock and metal world. Led by the captivating Michael Poulsen, they proved why they are one of the best in the business. Their mix of rockabilly, metal, and hard rock had everyone moving and singing along. Hits like “Still Counting,” “A Warrior’s Call,” and “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” had the venue rocking, and the energy was off the charts. The way they effortlessly blend rockabilly, metal, and hard rock elements into their music is simply remarkable, and it’s no wonder they have such a dedicated fanbase. I’ve seen Volbeat multiple times, and there’s been no bad show whatsoever!
Volbeat Setlist: The Devil’s Bleeding Crown – Temple of Ekur – Seal the Deal – Lola Montez – Die to Live – Sad Man’s Tongue – Shotgun Blues – The Devil Rages On – Becoming – Last Day Under the Sun – Fallen – Wait a Minute My Girl – For Evigt – Still Counting
As the night came to a close, the crowd was buzzing with happiness. Volbeat and Bad Wolves had given us a night to remember, and we were all grateful to be a part of it. The Rave/Eagles Ballroom witnessed a rock and metal spectacle that will stay with us
for a long time. This was the perfect venue for this epic show. The sound was awesome, and the lighting was absolutely perfect for photos. It was a great first time experience there! I see that there’s a ton of great bands coming to this venue, so I hope to visit once again to shoot another awesome show! Until next time, Milwaukee! Keep on rocking!
