I’ve been wanting to see Vince Gill since I was a kid. Growing up listening to 90’s country, he was one of the ones that was very popular.  So this was really fun.
This was a long show.  As he stated at the beginning of the show, “If you don’t like country music, this is going to be the longest night of your life.”  It’s true.  He initially played an entire set of twenty one songs.  This included multiple hits, such as “Look at Us” and “I Still Believe in You”.  I loved this set because it was the music I grew up to.
The second set consisted of eleven more songs, including “Go Rest High on That Mountain” about his late brother.  As if that all wasn’t enough, he followed it up with three encores.  So if you aren’t happy with all of that, I don’t know what to tell you.
Funny thing about this particular concert.  Kyle had spent his whole last weekend photographing the Milwaukee Metal Fest.  If you aren’t familiar with it, this is hard metal.  That screaming metal.  He shot the first three songs, came and sat down next to me and just goes, “This is so nice”.  Just the complete opposite of what he had been dealing with previously.
For those who haven’t seen Vince Gill as of late, his voice is still just amazing.  He is one of those singers that has just an incredible voice.  It has not changed.  It’s so easy to listen to.  Sprinkled throughout the show were stories he told about various things.  If that man is one thing, it is self deprecating.  Being Minnesotans, we can relate to that. The tales he told were so funny.  He also mentioned the State Fair, having played there previously, which the crowd loved.
I’d recommend seeing Vince Gill if you get a chance.  There’s a reason the Eagles chose him to front the band in the past.  He’s a great musician and again, his voice is amazing.  Plus, he just seems like an all around nice guy when he stands on stage and essentially chats with the audience.
