Many people asked us after we saw this show how I knew who Till Lindemann was.  Easy answer: he’s the lead singer of Rammstein.  Slightly longer answer, I’m a huge fan of German culture and have been since I was young.  So I love listening to any German music, as it helps me keep up with the language.  It’s why I got so into Rammstein as a teenager.  After seeing them twice on the US Stadium tour, I was very excited to see Till in his solo act.

Since Kyle was shooting this, I had to let him know a couple things.  I told him to expect something similar to a Genitorturers show.  If you are not familiar with the Genitorturers, look them up.  They put on quite a show, to put it lightly.  But it’s the type where if we have our expensive camera equipment out, I want to be prepared.
We missed the opening acts.  That day was a full day of photographing wedding photography.  After a ten hour wedding, we hopped in the car and raced up to Maplewood for this show.  It was so funny because as soon as we got out of the car, we ran into people we knew.  Whether it was security or other photographers or friends, we had familiar faces all around us.   We were there probably ten minutes before Till took the stage.
There’s a lot from his shows that you will not see on social media.  It’s simply because people will be banned if they post it.  I describe it to everyone I have talked to as a mix of a Halloween psycho sexual circus.  There is just a LOT that happens that you don’t expect.  One crazy part of the show was when they brought out cakes and threw them in the faces of audience members. There was a guy in the front that got absolutely nailed with one. His whole face was covered.
Another was the one I had to step away from – when they threw dead fish into the audience.  I was fine then because I was far enough away that I wouldn’t get hit with one.  But then they brought out one of those t-shirt cannons and started shooting them all over the club.   That was too much for me, although some people just loved it.
One thing I think everyone can agree on is how loud it was.  Seriously.  I had a very good pair of earplugs in and when he played “Du Hast Kein Herz”, I could feel it in my chest.  It was that level of loud that I have not experienced in years.  I think everyone has that show in their minds that they have been to. That song rules though.  It was easily my favorite of the night.
Overall, awesome show.  I would go see it again.  I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to everyone because not everyone would be comfortable with certain aspects of it.  I saw some people with really little kids there and I wouldn’t have wanted to explain to them parts of that show.  Also, funny that my initial thoughts was a Genitorturers show, because Joe Letz was actually in both bands.  It is certainly a show for adults, and even then, only adults that can handle it. It’s certainly unique.
