I have been to a lot of concerts. Not as many as some reviewers I know, but more than a lot of people I know. However, I have never EVER seen a concert like the SoapGirls before. It was one of the wildest and most fun concerts I have ever seen! According to their website ‘The Soap Girls’ sound is “alternative, rock punk post grunge with Pop sensibilities.” The Soap Girls are made up of 2 permanent members consisting of bass player & singer Camille Debray (or “Mille” for short) and her sister guitarist & singer Noemie Debray (or “Mie” for short”.) Their drummer can vary from concert to concert and tour to tour but for this tour the drummer is Brandon Shore who was awesome as well. One surprising thing about this concert was how funny the gals were! Right off the bad, they started talking with an American Southern accent talking like they were from Tennessee and being absolutely HILARIOUS while doing it! Eventually they spoke with their South African accent and were talking about very positive messages about individuality and being yourself and not caring what other people think. The music was absolutely rocking from song to song……then about halfway through the concert Noemie aka “Mie” took her top off and played the rest of the show topless which is a very punk thing to do.
Later on the gals invited people to come up on stage with them during one song (including me) and everyone was shooting silly string that the band had. It was so wild! It is a concert I will never EVER forget (which is a hard thing to achieve in this day and age.) After the show, the girls would talk to everyone who came and signed autographs and photos with everyone who wanted one. It was fantastic. I won’t say what happened, but let’s just say this reviewer got a photo with “Mie” that I will never forget. The audience consisted of so many people that weren’t even from Minnesota and they had followed the band city to city to watch as many shows as they could which shows how great and loyal their fan base is. So if ‘the SoapGirls’ come to your city or town, GO! It is so much fun, so much positivity and hilarity you would be crazy not to go. There were two opening bands that night. The first band was Canada Goose and the second band was Odd Prospect. Both were great and would love to get their albums as well. They both had a lot of great original songs!
