The Reverend Horton Heat – The Fine Line – Minneapolis MN – July 8th 2023

KFAI and First Avenue present The Reverend Horton Heat with special guests Kinda Fonda Wanda

This was amazing to hear cause this is the smallest venue The Reverend has played in a ling time in the city.

Kinda Fonda Wanda opened the show. She was just a spark of energy playing her songs which were a mix of rockabilly country rock.  The is Amanda White on lead vocals, drew miller on bass, Mo Engel on drums, Al Subola on guitar and a slide guitar player. I didn’t get his name. All of her songs were amazing. They had the crow singing and dancing along to their whole set. She even invited a group of girls up front to dance with the band during a tune. If you dig rockabilly and honky tonk music check them out. You can click her name above.

If you know the Reverend Horton Heat, then you know he is always on tour. He is supporting his latest Roots of the Rev Volume 1 and this time it is up close and personal. The album is a collection of songs that The Rev has inspired him over the years. It is an amazing collection of songs.

The stage in the Fine Line is not that high so being up front you can look your favorite artists right in the eye. They are also getting a lot more hard rock and metal bands here. Which is great cause its a big change for the venue. So back to the show. The Rev came out and ripped right into Big Sky from Liquor in the Front which blends right into Baddest of the Bad. I think these are two of his best songs. Big Little Baby, Where in the Hell did you go with My Toothbrush, and Five-O Ford were next. This best part is the band seemed to love this small venue. Right up in everyone’s face and having a great time.  The rest of the set included all the fan favorites Psychobilly Freakout, It’s Martini Time which I have not heard him play in the last few shows, and 400 Bucks. of course Jimbo Song and Bails of Cocaine were in the set. Then they closed with one of the greatest covers ever closed out the show, Ace of Spades.
