Steel Panther – Varsity Theater – Minneapolis MN – March 22nd 2026
Live Nation presents Steel Panther live at The Varsity Theater on March 22nd 2026
Review and photos by Kyle Hansen
Steel Panther rolled into the Varsity Theater and turned the place into a full-blown 80s glam metal fever dream—equal parts shredding guitars, ridiculous comedy, and total chaos.
From the moment they hit the stage, the energy was loud, sleazy (intentionally), and completely over the top. The Varsity Theater’s smaller, packed-in layout worked in their favor—it felt less like a formal show and more like a wild party where the band just happened to be insanely talented.
Jokes aside, the band is tight. The guitar work was especially impressive—fast, flashy solos that felt authentic to the era they parody but still genuinely skillful. Vocals held up strong live, hitting those high notes while still managing to banter constantly with the crowd.
Even if you came for the comedy, the musicianship keeps you locked in.
This is the core of the show—and it’s not subtle.
Between songs, there’s a ton of crowd work: improvised jokes, back-and-forth heckling, and outrageous commentary. It’s crude, exaggerated, and very much the point. The audience was clearly in on it, laughing, shouting, and playing along the whole night.
That said, if you’re not into explicit humor, it can feel like a lot. The comedy sometimes takes up as much time as the music.
The set moved between songs and long comedic bits, creating a loose, anything-can-happen vibe. It didn’t feel rigid or scripted—which made it fun, but occasionally a little chaotic.
Highlights included:
- Big singalong choruses
- Extended guitar solos
- Moments where the crowd basically became part of the show
The Varsity Theater was the perfect setting:
- Close quarters amplified the energy
- Strong sound for a guitar-heavy band
- Easy crowd interaction—no distance between band and fans
Steel Panther at the Varsity Theater wasn’t just a concert—it was a full-on spectacle. If you embrace the joke, it’s one of the most entertaining live shows you can see. If not, it might feel like a lot of talking between songs.
Rating: 8/10 — wild, funny, and surprisingly musically legit.
