Steel Panther – The Fillmore – Minneapolis MN – March 29th 2023

3/29/2023 STEEL PANTHER @ the Fillmore – Minneapolis

If there is one thing you can guarantee at a Steel Panther show is that you will have a crazy, wild good time that you won’t soon forget. That was the case at the Steel Panther show Wednesday at the Fillmore Minneapolis. There were two bands which is kind of rare for a concert lately. The show started with the band “Tragedy” which is a band that does metal covers of songs like “I Will Survive” and “It’s Raining Me.” It is kind like the Village People meets Metallica which was pretty wild. The 2nd band was called “Crobot” self-proclaimed “riff-monsters” that did mostly original songs and really rocked the house with some acrobatics (jumping onto of the lead guitarist’s shoulders) and getting fake electrocuted. They were a lot of fun!

The main event was the legendary Steel Panther. Their Wikipedia page describes Steel Panther as ‘an American comedic glam metal band Los Angeles, California’, but I just think they are pure unadulterated fun! I’ve seen them a few times over the years (once at the the now defunct Mill City Nights when they had the 93X girls finale – and at First Avenue.) This time it was at the new-ish Fillmore which, when you are there, it seems like it is in the middle of nowhere, but it is in the heart of downtown Minneapolis (but doesn’t seem like it because it is at the bottom of a hill.)  They also have an awesome new bass player named Joe “Spyder” Lester who took over for previous bassist Lexxi Foxx.

The played all the fun, family hits such as “Asian Hookers”, “Death to All But Metal” and new songs like “1987” and “Friends with Benefits.” Of course, they brought up a lot of wild women on stage and the four members each came up with a song to one lucky lady they brought up on stage.
