REZZ Presents: PORTAL
REZZ – Armory – Minneapolis MN – February 21st 2026
Rezz
Pulling up to the Armory you could tell it was going to be a big one. The line wrapped around the building, the bass was already shaking the sidewalk, and people in Rezz gear and goggles were everywhere. This was only my second EDM show and honestly my first real time hearing her, outside of a couple random songs but by the time I walked out I was sold.
Walking into the Armory, the stage hits you right away! The lighting rig stretches the entire length of the venue, there is a massive circular LED screen behind the DJ booth, and even the DJ booth features a cool thorn design to it instead of the usual basic table. I have been to more shows than I can count and have seen plenty of stages, but nothing like that! It already felt dark and hypnotic before a single note started.
The second the set started the lights and visuals felt locked in sync to the music. The colors did not feel random at all. Each change in color flowed perfectly with the changes in mood and sound. It wasn’t just the typical DJ in front of lights; it was more like being dropped inside one big moving piece of art. For someone still new to EDM shows, it really showed how much the production changes the whole night.
Rezz barely talked on the mic, and I was surprised how much I liked that. There was no constant “let me hear you” stuff or 123 countdowns before every drop, mostly, she stayed locked in behind the decks, letting the music and visuals do the talking. The glowing glasses were such a simple thing but they pulled your eyes to her every time she leaned into a build. Her whole presence felt calm and in control, not over the top or forced.
Every part of the Armory was moving. Up by the barricade, off to the sides, people in the drink lines, even folks waiting for the bathroom were still dancing in place. Being close to that giant circle screen is wild because it feels like it fills your whole vision, but I really liked walking to the very back for a while. From there you can see everything at once and really experience the full setup.
For only my second EDM show, this one set the bar pretty high. I walked in curious and mostly clueless. I walked out a new Rezz fan and with a much better understanding of how much it matters when someone actually plans the lights, visuals and stage to hit as hard as the songs.
