MUSIC AT THE FAIR | DAY 5 – LOS LOBOS – ST. PAUL, MN – AUGUST 25, 2025
After a busy opening weekend at the Minnesota State Fair, the crowds tend to lightens up a bit on the first Monday, which some find to be a more enjoyable experience. It is Seniors Day, which from a music perspective means the Grandstand hosts the Happy Together Tour consisting of: The Turtles, Jay and the Americans, Little Anthony, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, The Vogues, and The Cowsills.
It actually wasn’t busy at The Bandshell as the legendary California band Los Lobos made it one of the most popular nights. Their well established and loyal following came out in droves, which had fans out early jockeying for the best spots.
Certainly the Fair is know for having a seemingly limitless variety of food options, but I also like to call out that it could also be thought of as a kind of music buffet. They really have done an exceptional job year after year of putting together a schedule of acts to offer a little something for everyone. An afternoon performance by Talking Dreads is a perfect example of this. Their name is a clever play on words that is also meaningful as the band plays Reggae versions of Talking Heads songs as well as some original tunes and Reggae classics. Jamaican born singer Mystic Bowie is a natural entertainer and has a great voice.
