MUSIC AT THE FAIR | DAY 3 – MAGGIE ROSE – ST. PAUL, MN – AUGUST 24TH, 2024

The Grandstand theme for Day 3 at the Minnesota State Fair was comedy and Nate Bargatze was brilliant! Laughing is so good for you and I love seeing it thrive on the Grandstand stage.

As for music, the headliner at the Leinie Lodge stage was Maggie Rose. She has the voice of an angel and her loyal fans were there in force.

The Shell Stage located in the West End is the place to go and see Twin Cities based talent. Mae Simpson was the headliner and exceeded the great energy she brought to her performance there last year as part of First Avenue Goes to the Fair.

I spent the better part of my day at the Leinie Lodge and the first show of the day turned out to be my pick for hidden gem performance of this fair season. Husband and wife duo, The Dryes are based in Nashville and appeared on The Voice as part of Team Blake. They are the total package with beautiful harmonies and great songwriting. Please check them out here.

Being a fan of the guitar, I was of course excited to see McKinley James and when I saw his vintage amp rig and the white coil guitar cable I knew we were all in for a treat, and boy was it ever!
