Lens on Music at the Fair 2023 by Patrick Dunn
There’s good reason why the Jonas Brothers were selected to headline the grandstand stage on the final Friday night of the 2023 Minnesota State Fair, because they are a damn good band!
The Jonas Brothers have cemented their place in pop music history. Their journey from Disney darlings to global superstars showcases their talent, resilience, and ability to evolve.
Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas formed the band in 2005. They quickly gained popularity with catchy tunes and wholesome image. Early hits like “Year 3000” and “S.O.S.” resonated with a young audience. Their energetic performances and relatable lyrics made them instant fan favorites.
The band’s music matured over time. Albums like “A Little Bit Longer” and “Lines, Vines and Trying Times” showed their growth. They explored deeper themes while maintaining their pop sensibility. Songs like “Lovebug” and “Paranoid” displayed their versatility.
One area this show certainly stood out above the rest was on bringing in the most enthusiastic crowd. There’s no doubt these brothers are expert at delivering just what their fanbase came to see. However, the joy their audience resonates, along with their tendency to sing along, really adds to the overall fun. The tour is called Five Albums, One Night. They managed to pack in a ton of material, which took a ton of effort. It made for a very special and memorable evening.
Supporting act Lawrence also really deserve a callout. They put on a fantastic show and were the perfect choice to elevate what was already a guaranteed solid night of entertainment.
