First Avenue turned into a full-on frenzy Wednesday night when Joey Valence & Brae brought their blend of old-school hip-hop and chaotic energy to Minneapolis. The duo’s stop on tour felt more like a wild basement party than a structured show — the kind where everyone’s jumping, sweating, and shouting every word.

AG Club opened the night with a set that felt effortlessly cool and high energy all at once. Their mix of heavy bass, slick verses, and melodic hooks had the crowd moving early. The chemistry between members was obvious — trading lines, hyping each other up, and keeping things unpredictable. They powered through tracks like “Columbia” and “Memphis,” both of which had the crowd shouting back every word. The set walked the line between swagger and sincerity, making it clear AG Club know exactly how to command a stage.

When Joey Valence & Brae finally came out, the crowd erupted. With a massive HYPERYOUTH disco ball center stage, the duo wasted no time jumping into their set, bouncing across the stage with nonstop movement. Their live energy is ridiculous — it feels like watching two best friends who’ve weaponized nostalgia and chaos. Songs like “Punk Tactics,” “Double Jump,” and “Dance Now” hit hard, with mosh pits opening up between bursts of laughter and crowd chants.

Even when things got a little messy — mic drops, missed cues, or jokes that went off the rails — it only added to the fun. The two thrive in that chaos. Their banter was sharp, their energy unmatched, and their connection with the crowd felt genuine. Between songs they hyped fans up, cracked jokes, and somehow managed to keep the energy at a constant high.

By the end of the night, the floor was slick with sweat and smiles, the kind of show that leaves you buzzing long after the lights come on. Joey Valence & Brae brought pure, unfiltered fun to First Ave — the kind of performance that reminds you why live music still matters.
