Grandson – Amsterdam Bar and Hall – St. Paul MN – March 8th 2019

Grandson and his ‘No Apologies Tour’ came to Amsterdam Bar and Hall in St. Paul, MN on Friday March 8th, 2019.

BarlowLN was first to hit the stage. Confessing this was the first time he has ever been on tour. Which works out great for him because most of Grandson’s shows are selling out, giving him a great way to get his name out there. Evan Barlow hails from Virginia. Influences like Tupac, Eminem, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash can be heard in mixtures of his sound. Getting the crowd excited for the night, he really showed that he is up and coming.

Des Rocs, a rock band from New York sure got people dancing and on their feet. As more and more people started filling in the Amsterdam, it seemed the crazier they got. Des Rocs most assuredly will get you to dance at a show, or at the least, surely make you enjoy your time listening to them. Announcing they have only been a group for one year was surprising, as they are astounding performers. These guys are sure to be something big sooner than later. I will definitely be at the next show they have in Minnesota.

This is my second time seeing Grandson, but the first time they are actually here on their own headlining tour. Which makes me really excited, because that means more songs to revel in by them and a longer set time. I was unquestionably blow away by their performances last time I saw them and knew this would be no different. Jordan Edward Benjamin is a Canadian-American songwriter, musician, and lead singer for Grandson. Grandson just released the follow-up to their first EP debut with A Modern Tragedy Vol. 2 in February of 2019. He is known for his political lyrics and stances, which have positively worked in his favor. April 2018, they signed with the Fueled by Ramen record label. Benjamin was undoubtedly born to be a performer. As I said prior, most of Grandson’s headlining tour has sold out, which says a lot about them and how many fans they’ve gained. When you watch Grandson live you know exactly why this is, not just because people listen to their songs on the radio, album, or music platforms. But because they capture the crowd every time they take the stage, and keep it throughout the whole set. Grandson gets everyone, and I mean everyone in the room off their feet and dancing or jumping up and down to each and every song. Grandson is one of my new favorite artist (band) to watch and listen to. As always, don’t miss these guys when they are in town.
