Walking up to The Fillmore, I felt that familiar buzz of anticipation. But this wasn’t your typical rock show. The energy was mellow, calm, and inviting. Cowboy hats and boots dotted the crowd as fans trickled in one by one, each person adding to the warm, communal vibe. It was clear from the start—this was going to be a special night. Packed house, friendly faces, and a vibe that couldn’t be more different from the chaotic pulse of a rock crowd. This was country, and it came with its own rhythm. From Del Rio, Texas, William Beckmann took the stage with a quiet confidence. At first glance, he looked like he could be fresh out of college—but don’t let that youthful appearance fool you. At 30, Beckmann’s voice carries the weight and richness of someone twice his age. His baritone is smooth, soulful, and magnetic, pulling you in from the first note.

The band behind him was tight and polished, effortlessly weaving through a set that paid homage to legends like George Strait, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison. One standout moment was when Beckmann sang a Spanish-language ballad—seductive, heartfelt, and steeped in his Mexican-American heritage. The acoustic guitar shimmered, the drummer kept a steady pulse, and the lead guitarist’s strumming added texture and warmth. For nearly two hours, Beckmann held the crowd in the palm of his hand. A masterclass in modern country with roots that run deep.

Then came Flatland Cavalry, the Texas-based folk-country powerhouse. This was my second time seeing them—the first was at the Luke Combs World Tour—and let me tell you, they’ve only gotten better. From “Tall City Blues” to “Stompin’ Grounds” and “Pretty Women,” their set was packed with hits that had the crowd singing, swaying, and stomping along.

Their sound is a perfect blend of acoustic warmth and electric energy, and yes—the fiddle was the secret sauce. It added that unmistakable country twang that makes you feel like you’re dancing in a barn under string lights. Lead singer Cleto Cordero’s storytelling through song is unmatched, and the band’s chemistry on stage kept the energy high and the audience engaged.

The production was elegant and understated—soft lighting, colorful accents, and a stage setup that felt like the living room of a farmhouse. It was intimate, authentic, and beautifully curated,toe-tapping, head-bobbing, and even a little two-stepping—this show had it all. William Beckmann won me over with his voice and charm, and Flatland Cavalry reminded me why I became a fan in the first place. The Fillmore staff were top-notch: welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. Clean facilities, respectful crowd, and a 10/10 experience all around.

If you haven’t seen these two acts live, you’re missing out on something truly special. Country music is alive and well—and nights like this prove it.
