Finneas – The Fillmore Minneapolis – February 27th, 2025

Review Kate Klaus

The “For Crying Out Loud Tour” had 27 year-old singer/songwriter and producer FINNEAS delivering a captivating range of music for a sold out show at the Fillmore in downtown Minneapolis. Starting off the night in a setting fitting of his reserved and unassuming demeanor, he opened simply, seated at a gorgeous piano with simple white lighting center stage, with his smooth warm vocals filling the theater as he opened with “Starfucker”. His emotional and impassioned delivery of the painful lyrics connected him instantly with the crowd, who joined him in song, some emphatically screaming the lyrics. Mid-song he was joined on stage by his talented band, and the song took a more lively rock turn.

As he transitioned into the next song “Lotus Eater”, he asked the crowd if they were ready to dance, and the energy was immediately electric with bodies jumping and arms waving all over the floor.  FINNEAS showed his massive talent and breadth as an artist, flawlessly shifting between high energy rock/pop dance tunes, emotionally- driven 50s-esque crooning ballads, funky-style grooves, and quiet and powerful solo vocals, like in “Angel”, that caused visible emotional reactions in the captivated crowd.

His capacity to effortlessly perform so many different musical styles while also infusing his own hallmark personality and artistic touch into them is a testament to his depth as an artist and performer.  Despite being on show number 6 in 7 days and admittedly being a “horrible bus sleeper”, his lively energy and vocal power persisted through the over 20-song set was an unforgettable experience for the packed venue who excitedly joined in singing and dancing all night. And despite his massive success, his humility that makes him so relatable and connected to his fans was apparent when he became emotionally moved by the crowds participation, particularly during an acappella moment during the moving “Only a Lifetime”.

FINNEAS closed the night with the title track “For Crying Out Loud”, ending with a perfectly emotional, yet catchy finale to a show that pulled heart strings and energized souls for an unforgettable night of music and connection.
