Elvie Shane with Aaron Simmons – Mayo Park – Rochester, MN – July 21st 2024

Elvie Shane with Aaron Simmons live on July 21st at the Mayo Park – Rochester, MN

It was a country music showcase at the second week of Rochester’s annual Down by the Riverside summer music series at Mayo Park, featuring Kentucky born country crooner Elvie Shane supported the now Nashville based Stewartville native Aaron Simmons.

Aaron started off the night with a beautiful set of classic style country tunes, joined on stage by a talented band of musicians.  He had a quiet but captivating stage presence, with a vulnerability in his lyrics and song styling that showed a deep emotional connection to his music and the stories behind his songwriting. During his set, Aaron mentioned that headliner Elvie Shane was one of his inspirations, and it was a touching moment to see Elvie side stage during his performance, watching and supporting another upcoming artist.

Elvie Shane’s performance was described by attendees as one of the best Down by the Riverside performances in recent years.  With a humble and thoughtful stage presence, he immediately connected with the crowd, and despite being in a large park setting, the show felt very intimate and connected, as he often broke between his songs to remarks on human connection, support, love and recognition for all people.  He took time to specifically recognized Aaron’s music, the crew and support staff that put on these shows, and then to stay long after the show ended in the park, meeting fans, signing merchandise, and connecting with supporters.  And above all of this, his music was absolutely perfect.

He sings with a quiet and yet strong and passionate conviction with deep southern roots and a theme of blue-collar American life.  The mix of the emotion and stories behind his songs and wonderful musicality and talent made for a perfect up and coming star to headline country week for this music series.
