It was a great night of music at the Varsity Theater with Don Broco supported by Capstan and Sace6 on a beautiful night in Minneapolis, with Don Broco’s delivering a high-energy, genre-blurring spectacle that proved why the British rockers have built such a passionate following. And that following packed the theater on a Thursday night for an endearing show of support for a band that definitely lived up to the expectations of the packed room.
Opening the night, Sace6 set the tone with a surge of energy that immediately grabbed the crowd’s attention. Their sound blended melodic hooks with gritty emotion, striking a balance between openness and raw power that felt both fresh and authentic. Lead singer “Sace” has one of those voices that stays with you and is extremely captivating and memorable, while the words were delivered with such vulnerability and humility that it made for a noteworthy performance.
The Orlando-based post-hardcore rockers Capstan delivered controlled chaos with razor-sharp musicianship, effortlessly weaving between blistering breakdowns and soaring melodic passages. Vocalist Anthony DeMario’s dynamic range shifted from heartfelt cleans to raw screams from him and bassist Andrew “Boz” Bozymowski. The crowd fed off their intensity, erupting during heavier moments and swaying during introspective bridges. Capstan’s chemistry onstage was undeniable, turning the Varsity Theatre into a shared pulse of sound and energy. Their performance was both cathartic and electrifying, bringing a reminder that passion and precision can coexist beautifully in modern heavy music.
Don Broco then took the stage for a screaming crowd, bringing a boundless energy and charisma. Frontman Rob Damiani commanded the stage with his powerful vocals and brilliant smile. Don Broco’s music is a vibrant collision of rock, pop, funk, and metal, and every turn of the show brought a new element of musicality and style. One of the high points of the night, was the live debut of their new song, “Disappear”, which included a beautiful crowd sing-along moment to the new but easily learned chorus. They then swung to another heavier song, calling for a circle pit in the middle of the theater. That alternation between fun sing-alongs and intense mosh pits is exactly what makes Don Broco such a high caliber show, just completely energetic, intricately complex and interesting musicality, and unapologetically unique and uplifting for the lucky crowd on this amazing night of music in Minneapolis.
