DJ Pee Wee – First Avenue – Minneapolis MN – November 8th 2025
DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak), Sophia Eris, Kwey @ First Avenue 11.08.25
Red Bull’s Directions event took over First Avenue last night, turning the mainroom into a full-on dance party hosted by DJ Pee .Wee, aka Anderson .Paak behind the decks. The setup was stripped down but the vibe was anything but. No mic, no live band, no hype man, just .Paak in full character, dressed head to toe in fur: a massive coat, furry boots, and the shiniest little bob cut you’ve ever seen.
The night kicked off right at 9pm with Kwey setting the tone early, easing the crowd in with smooth blends and recognizable favorites. From there, Sophia Eris took over, carrying the energy and keeping bodies moving with a steady flow of hip-hop, R&B, and pop hits — nothing too obscure, just pure feel-good crowd-pleasers that kept everyone ready for what was coming next.
Everyone who came in got a Red Bull Directions wristband — one that lit up either red or blue depending on what you chose, your color actually helped dictate where the set went next. One set, you direct. A cool interactive twist that made the crowd part of the show before it even started.
By midnight, the energy was already high — and that’s when DJ Pee .Wee hit the stage, taking it to another level instantly. With a cheeky remark “I just got nominated for a Grammy!”, DJ Pee .Wee started rolling into the set. He bounced effortlessly through cuts, blending them so smoothly you barely noticed the transitions until you were already dancing to something else. Every time he threw in a drum break or flipped a soul sample, the whole crowd would cheer like it was a live show moment. It was. And when he slipped in a few of his own Anderson .Paak tracks, the place went off, a perfect mix of surprise and nostalgia that reminded everyone exactly who was behind the decks.
The energy in the room never dipped once. The floor was packed shoulder-to-shoulder, everyone dancing like it was the middle of summer instead of November in Minnesota. Anderson .Paak’s stage presence alone kept it electric, he would dance along, throw his hands up, and grin like he was having just as much fun as we were (probably more).
There wasn’t any talk, no grand speeches or encores, just hours of pure groove. It felt more like being at the best house party of your life than a concert and honestly, that’s the magic of DJ Pee .Wee.
