Deep Purple – Armory – Minneapolis MN – October 19th 2019

Deep Purple The Long Goodbye Tour 2019 The Armory, Minneapolis, MN 10/19/19

Opening band was Joyous Wolf, on tour supporting supporting their new ep “Place In Time”. I have seen this band before playing a festival before they were even signed. I remember that they really impressed me then.

They are throwback to the 1970’s with a modern feel.  They are a very solid band and a lot of fun to watch. They just released a new single. A cover of Mountain’s song “Mississippi Queen”. Unfortunately, the crowd was not having it.  I think they were older and disinterested, forgetting that this is how Deep Purple started out. Young and full of ambition.

If you like classic rock, have an open mind and are looking for new music to enjoy, you owe it to yourself to check out Joyous Wolf, you are welcome.

Headliners Deep Purple made the final stop of their North American leg of their Long Goodbye Tour in Minneapolis last night. It covered almost the entire history of the band with the exception of any David Coverdale era material. Although they did use the logo on Ian’s drum kit from that era. Hardcore Deep Purple fans should have been thrilled with some of the noticeable deep cuts they played like “Blood Sucker”, “Pictures Of Home” and “Demons Eye”. Which was a B side only single in the UK.

It seems as though Deep Purple gave the fans what they came for and will be missed by many. I would say check them out if you are a fan but sadly, you have probably missed your last chance.
