Dead & Company – Target Center Minneapolis MN – November 22nd 2015
Target Center and AEG present Dead & Company.
Dead & Company, for those not in the know, is a band formed of the former members of the Grateful Dead. They brought their tour to the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a night of Grateful Dead love.
After a quick intro jam, the band opened with a slower version of “Jack Straw.” The show quickly got bluesy with “Big Boss Man” and “Mexicali Blues.” The first of many times in the night John Mayer would shine. “Row Jimmy” was next followed by “Ramble on Rose.”
Weir sung an amped up “Hell in a Bucket” into the set closing “Casey Jones” that had the whole crowd singing. The second set opened with “Cumberland Blues” into “Cryptical Envelopment,” a tour first.
Next the band played an extended version of “Uncle Johns Band” and was easily one of the night’s highlights with Mayer almost channeling Jerry Garcia during his solo. A very funky “Scarlet Bagonias/Fire on the Mountain” led into the night’s “Drums/Space” with Billy Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart shaking the Target Center with their drums. A very emotional “Dear Prudence” was sung by Weir with a little help from the crowd. The second set closed with “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad/One More Saturday Night” that had the whole crowd dancing.
Encoring with “Friend of the Devil” ended the night on a high note leaving everyone with smiles on their faces. If you enjoy the Dead, I would highly recommend seeing Dead & Company, if possible.
