Conan Gray – Target Center – Minneapolis MN – February 19th 2026

Conan Gray’s “Wishbone Tour” kicked off its first night in Minneapolis and turned the crowd into a room full of memories, heartbreak, and screaming therapy at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN on February 19th.

Australian singer-songwriter Esha Tawari started off the night with a beautiful and heartfelt set. She has a sweet voice that carries a gentle innocence with it and just a beautiful, pure tone.  It was apparent that the crowd quickly fell in love with her music and her sweet personality, and as she closed her too short time on stage, even she seemed in all of the arena full of people who had enjoyed her music and her grace.

While the stage was set for Conan‘s performance, the arena was filled with young voices singing along to favorites by Chappell Roan, Prince, and others but then as the chorus to Olivia Rodrigo’s “Bad Idea, Right?” ended with the loud “no”, the entire arena went dark, and after a moment of what felt like silence, the crowd erupted, realizing that Conan was beginning his performance

He entered the stage, riding a bicycle, and dressed in the classic sailor suit, characteristic of the theme of his recent album. It was amazing to see so many fans in the crowd dressed in similar sailor themed attire, or else pajamas, the other thematic element of the night.  Frolicking around on the wishbone shaped cat walk, he presented not only a musically beautiful vocal performance, but a playful and uplifting stage presence that was almost theatrical, and had the crowd roaring and bouncing to the beat.

His set was filled with sing-alongs to favorites like “Wish You Were Sober” and “Eleven Eleven” and then midway through, slowed it down with a campfire setting at the end of one wishbone and a beautiful acoustic version of “The Story”, after a heartfelt statement supporting immigrants and children of immigrants facing fear and atrocities in Minnesota. Soon after, he treated the crowd to the live debut of an unreleased song, “The Best”.

Conan genuinely plays to his fans in the crowd, at times getting off the stage and moving down to greet fans at the barricade. He took a special moment with a fan named Jordan who was dressed in an unbelievable sailor costume that he described as “better than mine”, to have Jordan pull a wishbone and win the chance to pick the next song, for which he chose “Lookalike”.

Backed by an amazing, seven piece band, including violin, cello, keyboard and other instruments, he closed out the expansive 21-song set with the energy of both his performance and the crowd’s reaction to it never fading.  It was a perfectly performed opening to what is sure to be a fantastic tour of genuine, heartfelt, soul touching music that was wonderfully received by a beautifully, energetic crowd of screaming adoring fans that makes this type of show so fun and engaging.  Minneapolis got the very first heartbeat of the Wishbone era and you could feel everyone leaving knowing they witnessed the start of something special.
