The Skyway Theater presents Atreyu with special guests Crown the Empire – Tetrarch – SAUL and Defying Decay
Review and photos by Jake Hageman
The main thing I can say about this tour is that the lineup was stacked! Atreyu brought 4 amazing bands along with them on their “Baptize” (new album) tour to The Skyway Theatre. Personally, I’ve never been to the Skyway before, so it was all a pretty cool first time experience.
The night started off with Defying Decay, a metal band based out of Bangkok Thailand with 7 members. I’ve heard of these guys before, but I’ve never listened to them. They have a heavy and melodic sound. The band features a lot of electronic elements that makes it fun to listen to. The next band was Saul. I saw Saul 2 months ago, and it was a great time seeing them again. They can definitely bring the energy! The band I was most excited to see was Tetrarch, the next band on the lineup. Tetrarch exploded in popularity over the last year and a half with their hit singles “I’m Not Right”, “You Never Listen”, and “Stitch Me Up”. After listening to I’m not Right a year and a half ago, I instantly became a fan. Opening with Stitch Me Up, they had the whole crowd going crazy. Next time they’re in town, I highly suggest you go experience it for yourself. Up next was Crown The Empire, a metalcore band formed in 2010. This is another band where I’ve heard of them, but haven’t listened to much. I was pleasantly surprised with how well they sound! Atreyu, the main band of the night, played a great show as well! They played a variety of newer songs and older ones. My personal favorite is “Warrior”. Overall, this was a great show, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to cover it!
