Suicide Girls – Mill City Nights – Minneapolis MN – October 8th 2015

The now well known Suicide Girls take over Mill City Nights on a cool Minneapolis evening, bringing their Blackheart Burlesque tour around the Midwest.

The Suicide Girls were established in 2001. To be realistic, it was a good way to see hot punk girls naked. It was a softcore porn site with tattooed, pierced, alternative women. Now, it has become so much more. The site (not too mention its books, tours, and more) has become an outlet for women to express their sexuality in a way that is completely their own. They don’t do it for anyone else. From a female perspective, as well as from someone who is on the site, it has a very freeing feel to it. Not only is it sexually freeing, but also there are no beauty restraints.

So the fact that they are on tour and bringing the girls from city to city simply increases the frenzy of followers. The shows are interesting, to say the least. The girls perform a series of burlesque acts based on numerous themes, ranging heavily. The tour has been happening for years and each year, there seem to be new additions, as well as the more classic ones. Some of the themes this year included “A Clockwork Orange”, “Game of Thrones” and “Star Wars”, to name only a few.

The thing about these tours is that they are really a social media mecca. It’s the only downside, in my opinion. It would be amazing if you could go to these shows and see a really great burlesque show, but the audience is heavily encouraged to Instagram photos all night long, which essentially is the best form of free advertising ever. That’s a little aggravating. It seems a majority of their show has now turned into an advertisement rather than entertainment. It’s not like every form of entertainment on Earth doesn’t do that to an extent, but I feel it could just be toned down a bit.

Let us enjoy more of the show. Don’t encourage us to put our phones in the air every five minutes. There are beautiful women on the stage who actually put some time and effort into the show they are putting on. Suicide Girls are not unknown. There is no reason for there to be a constant stream of people tweeting and Instagraming every second of the show. Let us sit back, have a drink or two, and enjoy the show.

Interview with Missy!!!

Who turned you onto the Suicide Girls?
I started SuicideGirls as a place where my friends could be celebrated as being the beautiful unique women they are.  Where they could share their thoughts and feelings with the world.  Lucky the world agreed that they are beautiful inside and out.
What was your first tattoo?

My wings on my back

Any plans for your next tattoo?
I want to get another black heart.  The girls that are all out on tour get a little blackheart tattoo each time they go out on the road.  Kind of like how sailor’s get a swallow everytime they cross the equator. I would like to join the girls out on the road and get another blackheart this year.
What is your favorite tattoo you have?

My Calla Lilly Xrays on my thighs, they form a line like thigh highs.

What are you expecting from the tour this year?
Meeting tons of amazing people on the road.  It is the best part making friends around the country.
What are your favorite places to visit while on tour?

Restaurants, LOVE trying local specialties while we are on the road.

When doing the show, what character is your favorite to dress up as?
We have been to the last 2 tours, any thing special on this tour?

More audience participation, new numbers, more energy and more sexy, silly good times.

How many girls are on tour with the Blackheart Burlesque tour?

There are 7 dancers and our tour manager, merch girl and assistant (all of whom are also SuicideGirls)

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions for us.
