Hellyeah and In Flames – Myth – Maplewood MN – December 2nd 2017

Hellyeah and In Flames came to the The Myth in Maplewood, Minnesota the evening of the 93X XGirl competition, making for a crazy evening.

For those outside of the 93X listening vicinity, the station has a contest every year that crowns one girl of twelve the Ultimate XGirl.  She then represents the station at events throughout the year.  Each year, she is crowned at a concert, this year’s concert being Hellyeah and In Flames.

In Flames is one of my favorite bands that I rarely ever get to see.  They have an amazing sound that is uniquely their own.  It could be the Scandinavian metal, as I seem to be a real sucker for that sound, but they are very entertaining both in studio and live.  They were on a co-headling tour with Hellyeah and in this case, Hellyeah actually was the first to play.  The unfortunate thing about this is that the club cleared out quite heavily after Hellyeah.  Yet, it made for a great amount of space for the In Flames fans, something often hard to come by in The Myth.

Hellyeah is a band that really every metal head should give a chance to, as are made up of members of Pantera (YES!), Mudvayne, and Nothingface.  All of those pieces come together to an extremely loud and heavy band.  It has never failed that every time I have seen them, they have been incredibly loud, so I would highly recommend the earplugs when seeing them.  You’ll still get the full concert experience.

Both of these bands are fantastic and very entertaining live.  The current bass player of In Flames is leaving after a twenty year run with the band, so it was nice to see him in his final run.  It’s going to be great to see both of them next time they are in town.
