Alice Cooper – Mystic Showroom – Prior Lake MN – November 29th 2019

Mystic Lake Casino Hotel presents Alice Cooper live at the Mytsic Showroom.

Alice Cooper brought his tour to Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minnesota on Black Friday.  And what a Black Friday it was.  With Minnesota being hit with it’s first snowstorm of the year, people were deciding if it was worth it to brave the roads, or simply stay inside and stuff themselves on Thanksgiving leftovers.  The Alice Cooper fans were the type to brave the crazy roads covered in snow, rain, ice and anything else this state can throw at us.  The show was sold out completely, to fans that were incredibly excited for the show.

This was an evening with Alice Cooper, so there was no opening band. This made no difference to the crowd, as no opener meant more time with Alice onstage.  On this particular tour, his stage was a huge haunted castle.  It was amazing and frankly, a lot of fun.  There were big doors in the center that had Alice come out of as well as stairs on the right leading to the top of the castle. Aside from being just a prop, it actually played a huge part in the theatrics.  If you’re curious, yes, he still has the guillotine and Frankenstein’s monster. Sheryl Cooper has new costumes and plays a big part of the production as well.

The setlist was absolutely incredible. We’ve seen Alice many times.  For those who have also seen him a lot, they seem to have an idea of what the setlist is.  It’s usually pretty standard and with Alice Cooper, even standard is extremely fun.  This night had some special additions.  They pulled out some 80’s classics not heard in a while such as “He’s Back” and “Teenage Frankenstein” from the “Friday the 13th Part VI” soundtrack with an onstage Jason Vorhees stalking onstage victims. That was really cool.  Hearing the song live was fun enough, but to add in a Jason was just the icing on the cake.  “Roses on White Lace” with Nita’s guitar solo, “Bed of Nails”, “Raped and Freezin’”, “Muscle of Love”, are all classics.  This was one of the best setlists in years. The great thing an Alice Cooper show is that band gives each song the classic treatment and a new live feel that kicks ass. The trio of guitar players work so well together and have a different stage presence which shows on every song and performance. We did an interview with Alice earlier in the day and he even said this band is one of his best he has had. I will post the interview as soon as it goes live with Three Sides of the Coin podcast.

Overall it was one of the best Alice Cooper shows in years. He has one last show tonight in Illinois make sure to get over there and check him out.
